Downtown Brooklyn sees damage from Sandy
The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP), although still in the process of assessing the damage in its three Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and the BAM Cultural District, reports there was no major damage and no injuries to security workers.
“We have seen widespread damage to storefronts, signage and awnings throughout Downtown Brooklyn, but I am happy to report that the majority of the damage that we experienced is cosmetic and not structural, and that no injuries have been reported to our public safety staff,” said Tucker Reed, DBP president. “And thanks to the precautionary measures taken by our sanitation and security workers to secure our street furniture and fixtures before the storm, we saw very little damage to these items or to surrounding buildings caused by unsecured equipment.”
The DBP has compiled a list of damaged property and is working to notify property owners, who are encouraged to call for updates.
