Rock ‘n’ Roll Brooklyn makes history as largest inaugural half marathon
The Rock ‘n Roll Brooklyn Half Marathon, which takes place on Saturday, completely sold out a field of 17,500 runners from 50 states and 32 countries. It will be the largest inaugural half-marathon ever in the United States, race officials announced Thursday.
The previous largest first-time half marathon was in Washington, D.C. in 2013 with 14,478 runners.
Brooklyn will feature two of the largest half marathons in the country this year. The Brooklyn Half Marathon in May had more than 25,00 runners.
The race is part of the global Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series with more than 30 events and 600,000 runners every year.
