With flu season set to arrive soon, Brooklyn lawmakers are looking after the health of their constituents by offering free flu vaccinations in their districts.

State Sens. Marty Golden and Simcha Felder have announced the dates they will be offering free fu shots.

Golden, who said he is working in partnership with Coney Island Hospital and the Visiting Nurse Services of New York, is making the flu shots available on three dates: Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Bay Ridge Manor, 476 76th St.; on Friday, Nov. 13, at his district office, 3604 Quentin

The flu shots will be given from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. An appointment is necessary. For information, call Golden’s office at 718-238-6044.

Golden is urging senior citizens, uninsured residents and residents at risk for the flu to be vaccinated.

“I wish to remind everyone how important it is to get a flu shot so to keep from falling ill this winter. I look forward to joining my neighbors at these events and promoting good health in our community,” Golden said.

Felder is also urging his constituents to get their flu shots as soon as possible in preparation for the upcoming winter season. He is offering free flu shots at his district office at 1412 Avenue J to encourage people to get their shots, he said.

“Each winter, we hear about so many people who get the flu. They are forced to take off time from work and miss family simchas,” Felder said, using the Hebrew word for joyful family occasions. “I am urging everyone to take care of their health and the health of their family. Don’t wait! Get a flu shot right away!”

Felder is working in partnership with Maimonides Medical Center on the flu shot distribution.

“I am very grateful to the staff at Maimonides for working with my office to provide this excellent service,” Felder said, adding the he hopes the shots “will be able to protect many people from this awful illness.”

Appointments are necessary. Call Felder’s office at 718-253-2015 for information.
