Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 308th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY IN 1917, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Knit Sweater for Soldier; Eagle Has Wool; Hurry!”

The article focused on the Eagle selling yarn to Brooklynites in order to make sweaters for soldiers.

“The Eagle has received letters from all the officers commanding Brooklyn regiments and from General Bell at Camp Upton, stating that they will cooperate in seeing that every Brooklyn boy gets a sweater and that garments sent for individuals will be properly delivered,” the Eagle reported.
