ON THIS DAY in 1904, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Burglars at Johnson’s Twice in Seven Weeks.”
The article focused on a thief stealing an heirloom gravy ladle and fine painting from a household as the inhabitants were asleep.
“Captain Lawrence Murphy and the detectives of the Grand Avenue station are to-day investigating a burglary that took place at the residence of William Johnson … when all of the members of the household were snugly asleep in bed,” the Eagle reported.
