Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 78th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY in 1911, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Clever Safe-Crackers Left No Clues Behind.”

The article focused on silent thieves who managed to successfully tear apart a safe while a whole house of people slept undisturbed.

“Detectives at work on the remarkable robbery which took place at the home of Max Baar … on Friday night, where a heavy safe was wrecked while seven persons slumbered on in blissful ignorance that thieves were tearing it to pieces under their very noses, as it were, cannot repress a professional feeling of admiration for the cracksmen,” the Eagle reported.
