Paul Krugman to speak on Obama’s legacy at Brooklyn College

Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman will take part in a dialogue with Thomas Frank, Robert L. Hess scholar-in-residence at Brooklyn College, at the college’s annual Robert L. Hess lecture: “On the Obama Legacy.”

The lecture, named after the president of Brooklyn College in the 1970s, will take place on Thursday, March 26, from 12:30 to 2:05 p.m. at the college’s Whitman Theater, 2900 Bedford Ave.

In addition to being a Nobel Prize winner, Krugman is an op-ed columnist for The New York Times, the author of more than 20 books and more than 200 articles in professional journals and a professor of economics and international affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.

He will join the faculty of the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center this year as a professor in the Ph.D. Program in Economics.

Frank is the author of “What’s the Matter With Kansas? How Conservatives Won the Won the Heart of America” and “Pity the Billionaire: The Hard-Times Swindle and the Unlikely Comeback of the Right.” He is a former columnist at Harper’s Magazine and has contributed to many other publications.

The lecture is sponsored by Brooklyn College’s Ethyle R. Wolfe Institute, which is named after the dean of the college’s School of Humanities in the 1970s.
