It was a tough season for boys high school basketball in Brooklyn. Xaverian High School had the only team to make it to the finals, but the Clippers lost to Christ the King, and there were no All-Americans for the fourth time in five years. While Brooklyn didn’t have the best team or the best player, it certainly had the most overall depth out of every borough in the city.

Here are the high school basketball All-Brooklyn boys teams, as chosen by the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

All-Brooklyn MVP: Shamorie Ponds, Jefferson, guard, junior

Shamorie Ponds was the most dynamic scorer playing in Brooklyn this year, as he averaged 24.6 points per game in 19 Public School Athletic League contests. He also averaged 8.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. Jefferson fell short of its goal this year, but with Ponds coming back, the team will be back in championship contention again next season.

All-Brooklyn Coach of the Year: Jack Alesi, Xaverian

Christ the King coach Joe Arbitello said it best: Watch out when Jack Alesi gets talented players, because the guy flat out knows how to coach. Xaverian might not have had the most talent, but it was the best all-around team in Brooklyn this season, with a 22-7 overall record.

All-Brooklyn Rookie of the Year: Tyler Bourne, Lincoln, guard, freshman

There were times when Bourne looked and played like a freshman, but at other times, he was among the best players in the entire city. As a freshman, he averaged 12.2 points and 3.7 assists per game in 19 games. With him and fellow freshman Paul Person, Lincoln will be back on top soon.

All-Brooklyn First Team

Jahlil Tripp: Lincoln, forward, senior

Tripp was Lincoln’s most consistent offensive player and averaged 16.7 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in 19 games. He’s also the unofficial comeback player of the year, after he missed all of last season after he was shot in the leg by a stray bullet and needed leg surgery.

Jaquan McKennon: Jefferson, guard, senior

After McKennon averaged just 10.2 points per game during the regular season, he went off and averaged 17.8 points per game in the playoffs. He tried his best to keep Jefferson from losing in the semis, but unfortunately his teammates didn’t match his intensity.

Najee Larcher: Xaverian, forward, senior

Larcher was Xaverian’s best offensive weapon, averaging 12.9 points per game this season. Part of a great duo in the paint for Xaverian with Sayon Charles, they made it tough to decide who would get first team and which would get second team honors.

Gianni Ford: Boys and Girls, guard, junior

If he wasn’t the best point guard in Brooklyn this year, there will be no doubt about it a year from now. Ford averaged 18.8 points, 5.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game.

Doyin Isaac: Xaverian, guard, senior

Isaac is the reason Ford can’t be considered the best point guard in the borough. He ran the offense, played tremendous defense and knew when he needed to be aggressive. Isaac averaged 12.9 points per game.

All-Brooklyn Second Team

Sayon Charles: Xaverian, forward, senior

Craig McKenzie: Brooklyn Collegiate, guard, senior

Gerald Williams: Westinghouse, forward, junior

Anthony Munson: Bedford Academy, forward, junior

Cori Johnson: South Shore, forward/guard, senior
