The article focused on a daylight burglar’s arrest thanks to an ambulance surgeon and driver.
“Promptness and ready wit on the part of the driver and surgeon of a Holy Family Hospital ambulance, which was returning from the Kings County Hospital, resulted today in the arrest of a desperate daylight burglar, who had just held up two women in their home at the point of a revolver,” the Eagle reported.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN was assassinated on this day in 1865. Lincoln was shot while watching a performance of “Our American Cousin” at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. He died the following day. The assassin was actor John Wilkes Booth.

New York City’s most populous borough, Brooklyn, is home to nearly 2.6 million residents. If Brooklyn were an independent city it would be the fourth largest city in the United States. While Brooklyn has become the epitome of ‘cool and hip’ in recent years, for those that were born here, raised families here and improved communities over the years, Brooklyn has never been ‘uncool’.
