Visitors flocked to Brooklyn Bridge Park over Memorial Day weekend to relax in the sun, enjoy a barbecue, roller skate or play basketball and marvel at the interactive artworks of Jeppe Hein’s Please Touch the Art exhibition. Locals and tourists arrived by foot, subway, car and ferry.

The “No swimming or wading” signs were blithely ignored as visitors dipped their toes into the East River.
