When Visitation Academy hosted its Field Day on a recent Saturday, Principal Arlene Figaro didn’t have to find transportation for the students, teachers and parents to a public park.

That’s because the academy’s bucolic campus served as the setting for the Field Day festivities.

Located at 8902 Ridge Boulevard, Visitation Academy, a Catholic school for girls, boasts 7.5 acres filled with trees, grass, flowers, benches and walkways. There’s even a small lake on the grounds.

“It was the perfect setting for our Field Day events. Everyone was able to relax and have a good time,” Figaro told the Brooklyn Eagle.

The students had a blast running relay races, competing in a tug-of-war, kayaking in the lake and playing volleyball.

While the kids were playing, their parents sat under shady trees in beach chairs and took it easy.

The Sisters of the Visitation, the Catholic religious order of nuns who live in a monastery on the grounds, came out to cheer for the youngsters as they competed in the various sporting events.

The Sisters of the Visitation sponsor Visitation Academy. The academy educates girls from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade.

Field Day was an all-day event. The Visitation Academy Father’s Club cooked breakfast for everyone in the morning. The day ended in the late afternoon with a barbeque in which the fathers cooked and served the food. “It was a wonderful way to end the day,” Figaro said.
