Ah, the glorious Greenway.
Bicyclists and joggers consider the waterside pathway a convenient conduit from Brooklyn Heights to Red Hook.
But it never occurred to us that it also serves splendidly as a way for pedestrians to walk between the two neighborhoods in good weather.

We got the idea of hoofing it along the Brooklyn Greenway from the website of PortSide New York, a nonprofit that operates the decommissioned oil tanker Mary A. Whalen as a museum and floating cultural center.
It takes 20 minutes to walk from Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 6 to Red Hook’s Pier 11, where the Mary A. Whalen has a new berth. There’s ample signage to guide you on your way.
If you like to snap photos of eye-catching scenery as much as we do, the walk takes longer, of course. These pix give you an idea of what we saw on our stroll.
By the way, if you want your walk to include a stop at Pok Pok Phat Thai at 127 Columbia St., which is right along the Greenway, keep in mind that the popular restaurant is open only for dinner, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
