Cops hunt 3 in Bay Ridge deli shooting

Suspects fled after early morning violence

Police have stepped up their hunt for three dangerous suspects involved in a shooting at a Bay Ridge deli that seriously injured four people during the early morning hours of Oct. 8.

The violent incident took place at M&S Mini Market at 7301 Third Ave. shortly before 4 a.m., according to police.

One of the victims might have been involved in a fight with the suspects that took place earlier on the sidewalk outside a nearby bar, police said. The other victims appear to have been innocent bystanders.

The victim walked away from the suspects outside the bar, but the suspects followed him to the deli, where one of them opened fire.

A 44-year-old man was shot in the chin; a bullet hit a 46-year-old in the back; and a 33-year-old was shot in the ankle, according to media reports. Emergency medical technicians transported the injured men to NYU Lutheran Medical Center in stable condition, where they were listed in stable condition.

The fourth victim, a 28-year-old man, was the deli’s counter clerk, police said. He sustained bullet wounds to his left arm and buttocks. He later transported himself to NYU Lutheran Medical Center.

All three suspects are men in their mid- to late-20s, and were described as being Hispanic. One of the men was last seen wearing a white shirt, long black shorts and a black baseball cap; another man was wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie and black and white sneakers; and the third suspect was wearing black pants, a black shirt and black shoes, police said.

The past few weeks have seen two shocking incidents of violence in Bay Ridge, a normally safe and quiet neighborhood.

Police are still looking for the suspect who killed Jennifer Cohen, a 29-year-old woman whose body was found at Owl’s Head Park on Sept. 29.

A video, taken by a surveillance camera shortly before the victim’s death, appears to a show a man walking on Second Avenue in the direction of Owl’s Head Park with Cohen.

Cohen’s badly beaten body was discovered in Millennium Skate Park on Colonial Road and 67th Street.

The victim had suffered a blunt force wound to the head, according to police.

Citing police sources, the New York Daily News reported that the victim had no identification on her body and that a pocketbook found nearby contained hypodermic needles and condoms.

The area of Owl’s Head Park where the body was discovered is an enclosed section on the eastern end of the park. The skate park is a popular spot for kids.
