The Kings County Nathan R. Sobel American Inn of Court kept this year’s holiday party simple on Tuesday night with no big speeches or awards, just dinner with a holiday spirit among colleagues at Giando on the Water in Williamsburg.

The simple format was popular among members, as nearly 75 people showed up to toast the upcoming holidays. Though there were no formal speeches, President Hon. Miriam Cyrulnik did speak briefly.

“It’s a wonderful time of year and a chance for all of us to celebrate with one another,” Judge Cyrulnik said. “We’re at that stage in the Thanksgiving to Christmas festivities that we’re not yet nauseous from seeing each other so much.”

Cyrulnik took the moment to congratulate Hon. William Kuntz, an Inn Master who was recently named one of the most influential federal judges recently appointed to the bench. She also took the time to thank the upcoming leadership including the next president of the Inn Justice Sylvia Hinds-Radix.

“I also want to thank all the members, masters and masters emeritus,” Cyrulnik said. “I particularly want to acknowledge our President-elect, Judge Sylvia Hinds-Radix, our Counselor Victoria Lombardi, our Treasurer Joe Rosato, our Secretary Hon. Carl Landicino and our Executive Director Jeff Feldman.

“All of the officers have shown a real commitment to the Inn and have fostered the ideals that are the underpinning of the Inn. I’m really confident about the future of the Inn and the leadership they’re all going to show us going forward.”

Judge Cyrulnik also made a special point to thank Inn Administrator Lucy DiSalvo.

“This is the one time each year that I get to recognize the person who is our heart and soul, the person who makes it happen day in and day out,” Judge Cyrulnik said. “She takes our ideas — some of them harebrained, most of them genius — and puts them into action.”
