Commodore Barry Club to visit namesake’s grave in Philadelphia
The Commodore Barry Club of Brooklyn will travel to Philadelphia by bus on Sunday, May 29, for a day of commemoration and festivities honoring the life of John Barry, an Irish immigrant who led the U.S. Navy during the Revolutionary War.
The club will leave from Dunkin Donuts at 9243 Fourth Ave. at 8 a.m. for the bus trip to Philadelphia.
A wreath-laying ceremony at Commodore John Barry’s grave in Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Philadelphia will follow the 11 a.m. mass in historic Old St. Mary’s Church at 252 South Fourth St.
