Nearly 100 volunteers from Forest City Ratner companies join Rebuilding Together NYC to renovate Bed-Stuy high school
Just fewer than 100 volunteers from Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC) joined Rebuilding Together NYC on June 17 to renovate the Gotham Professional Arts Academy in Bedford-Stuyvesant, as part of the companies’ Community Day. Their work providing essential repairs to the school included painting classrooms and offices, making curtains for the black box theater, assembling gym equipment and building an outdoor vegetable garden for students and educators to use.
“Community Day is a special day at Forest City Ratner each year,” said MaryAnne Gilmartin, president and CEO of FCRC. “It is when we come together, no matter what our role in the company, work hard and see the fruits of our labor in one day. For a development company that works on multi-year projects, this is a wonderful opportunity and we are grateful to Gotham Professional Arts Academy and Rebuilding Together NYC for letting us be a part of it.”
“Our work today reflects Rebuilding Together NYC’s commitment to building strong, sustainable communities in which New Yorkers can thrive,” said Kimberly George, Rebuilding Together NYC executive director. “These improvements to Gotham Professional Arts Academy will allow the students to continue learning in an environment that is safe and healthy.”
