Philip Curcuru, the award-winning composer of the film “Old Days,” and his group The Atomik Age Project has won the 2016 Soundtrack Competition at WilliFest, the Williamsburg film and music festival, which will take place Sept. 9-11.

Curcuru, along with Jim Ceribello, Lou DiNatale, Curcuru’s daughter Christina Dempsey, Roger Fiorentino, Stu Seiderman, Bob Aniano and the late Joe Curcuru and Mike Micara, established their music roots in Brooklyn during the 1960s, and they’ve been making music together ever since. Their latest group, The Atomik Age Project, has been producing original music and short films for the last 12 years. Curcuru shares directing duties with Ceribello and DiNatale.

“Glasgow Girl,” written and produced by Curcuru and performed by The Atomik Age Project, is a tribute to a girl named Anna. Through words and music, “Glasgow Girl” salutes a Scottish mother’s love for her family, and the lifelong happiness they shared.

The Atomik Age Project has won four Best Original Soundtrack awards, and were finalists for Best Original Score at the 2016 TMC London Film and Music Festival.

Curcuru says, “We have been honored this time for another one of our original songs titled ‘Glasgow Girl,’ a tribute to my late mother-in-law Anna, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland. She met the love of her life during World War II, came to America, got married and the rest is history.”

Curcuru and The Atomik Age Project have some great things in store for the months ahead. Curcuru explains, “Also in September, two of our other films, ‘Old Days’ and ‘4 Ever Fab’ (a Beatles tribute), have been honored to be selected for screening at the 2016 Directors Chair film festival in Staten Island.

Winning in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is definitely a joy for us, especially with Brooklyn being a part of our DNA.”
