When students recently began the school year at Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn, they found several big changes to the school, including a new science lab and a music and art studio.

There has also been a major increase in student enrollment, according to Adelphi Head of School Iphigenia Romanos, who said the Early Childhood Development Program and the Lower School have several new students this term.

“Adelphi has seen an influx of younger students who are just beginning their academic journeys. We welcome them, and all new students, to our academy and encourage them all to take advantage of all that Adelphi has to offer, from its rich academic curriculum to engaging after-school activities and an overall sense of community,” Romanos said in a statement.

In addition to the new lab and studios, Adelphi Academy has also installed new lockers throughout the building and recently renovated the classrooms in the Lower School. More renovations are already underway, according to academy officials.

“The ongoing and regular physical expansions and renovations of our campus facility in order to meet the growing enrollment of our school and the ever-changing needs of our students are very important and also very exciting,” Director of Academy Operations Albert C. Corhan said.

Located at 8515 Ridge Blvd. in Bay Ridge, Adelphi Academy of Brooklyn was founded in 1863 and is one of the oldest private, independent college-preparatory day schools in the country.
