Taxpayers highlighted the expensive installation as one of the many cases of tax misspending in Germany.

PUERTO RICO — Monkeys Roam Island: In this Wednesday photo, monkeys move about on Cayo Santiago, known as Monkey Island. One of the first places Hurricane Maria hit in the U.S. territory Sept. 20 was Monkey Island, a 40-acre outcropping off the east coast that is one of the world’s most important sites for research into how primates think, socialize and evolve.

KENYA — Demonstrators March to Electoral Offices: National Super Alliance protesters made a dramatic entry as they marched to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission offices in Nairobi on Friday. The Kenyan police lobbed tear gas and fired shots in the air to disperse protesters demanding a change of leadership at the country’s election commission.

NEVADA — City Remembers Victims: A memorial displaying 58 crosses by Greg Zanis stands at the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign on Thursday in Las Vegas. Each cross has the name of a victim killed during the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival this past Sunday.

VIRGINIA – Tillerson: Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrives for the first meeting of the National Space Council first meeting at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, Thursday in Chantilly, Va. Tillerson has declared he never considered resigning as President Donald Trump’s top diplomat, disputing what he called an “erroneous” report that he wanted to step down earlier this year.

UKRAINE- Scuffle in Parliament: Ukrainian lawmakers scuffle during a parliament session of Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, in Kiev, Ukraine, Thursday. The parliament was forced to adjourn its session amid scuffles over hotly-disputed bills regarding the rebel-controlled eastern territories. 

BANGLADESH – Waiting for Food: Rohingya women carry children and wait for food handouts at Thangkhali refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, Thursday. More than half a million Rohingya have fled from Myanmar to Bangladesh in just over a month, the largest refugee crisis to hit Asia in decades.
