Poly Prep students to study sea turtles in Costa Rica
Ten students from Poly Prep Country Day School are planning to take a nine-day trip to Costa Rica, but they’re not going to Central America to enjoy the beaches. Led by teacher Linda Aponte, the students will be participating in a sea turtle ecology program through Ecology Project International (EPI), a conservation organization that works with scientists and international students in places like Costa Rica, Ecuador, Belize, Baja and Hawaii.
The Poly Prep journey will begin on March 18 and last until March 26. Poly Prep is a private school that has campuses in Dyker Heights and Park Slope.
During their stay, the Poly Prep students will be splitting their time between EPI’s Caribbean turtle reserve and a rainforest biological station.
