MEXICO — Bracing for a Storm: Fishermen move their boats, normally moored in the Gulf of Mexico, onto a coastal road to protect them ahead of the arrival of Tropical Storm Franklin in the port city of Veracruz on Wednesday. A strengthening Tropical Storm Franklin took aim at Mexico’s central Gulf coast after a relatively mild run across the Yucatan Peninsula, with forecasts saying it would grow into a hurricane before making its second landfall late Wednesday or early Thursday.

CALIFORNIA – Spiderman: In this photo, Rashad Rouse, 27, whose dream is getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, hangs upside down from a traffic signal pole in a Spider-Man costume to get attention from tourists on Hollywood Boulevard, in Los Angeles. Rouse is a musician and sometimes works as an Uber driver when he is not working on the boulevard. 

KENYA – Protesting Kenyan Elections: Residents of the Mathare area of Nairobi, Kenya, take to the streets by blocking roads with burning tires to protest in support of Kenyan opposition leader and presidential candidate Raila Odinga, Wednesday. Odinga alleges that hackers manipulated the Tuesday election results which appear to show President Uhuru Kenyatta has a wide lead over Odinga. 

NEW YORK – Headed for Canada: Dulne Brutus, of Haiti, tows his luggage down Roxham Road in Champlain, N.Y., while heading to an unofficial border station across from Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, Quebec, Monday. Officials on both sides of the border first began to notice last fall, around the time of the U.S. presidential election, that more people were crossing at Roxham Road. Since then the numbers have continued to climb.

COLOMBIA – Court Escort: A police officer escorts Australian Cassandra Sainsbury to a court hearing in Bogota, Colombia, Wednesday. The 22-year-old was detained April 12 at Bogota’s international airport when caught trying to smuggle about 6 kilos of cocaine inside packages of headphones. 

ITALY – Solace from the Heat: Tourists refresh themselves at a fountain in Rome, Wednesday. A relentless heat wave that gripped parts of Europe this week has sent temperatures soaring to record highs for several days.
