On Wednesday, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams invited Brooklynites to join him for upcoming free shows at the Wingate Concert Series at Wingate Park in East Flatbush, which will begin on Monday, Aug. 7, as well as the Coney Island Concert Series held at Ford Amphitheater in Coney Island, which will debut in early September. Adams thanked the organizers of the two series — Globe Star Media-N-Entertainment and City Parks Foundation, respectively — for their hard work on expedited timelines to ensure the well-attended tradition of free concerts at these entertainment venues would continue this season, according to a release from the Borough President’s Office.

“In response to the significant interest we all share in maintaining and expanding the range of free summer entertainment opportunities in our borough, I have been working aggressively to identify and secure new organizers that can deliver great performances at Ford Amphitheater and Wingate Park this season, as well as do even better in the years ahead,” said Adams.

The Wingate Concert Series will kick off on Monday with “Gospel Celebration,” a one-year anniversary celebration of the “Get Up! Mornings with Erica Campbell” nationally syndicated radio show; there will be several performances.

On Monday, Aug. 14, “The Legends of Hip-Hop” will include Big Daddy Kane, C+C Music Factory, Chubb Rock, Das EFX, DJ Enuff, DJ Scratch, M.O.P. and Special Ed.

“The Soul of R&B” on Monday, Aug. 21, will present Will Downing, Full Force, Fred Hammond, MC Lyte, Kelly Price, Jeff Redd, Cheryl “Pepsii” Riley and James “D-Train” Williams, as well as a special surprise guest.

Finally, the series will close out on Tuesday, Aug. 22, with “Afro-Caribbean Flavor,” including several acts. All shows are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with gates to the public opening at 6 p.m.

Partners for the Wingate Concert Series include 107.5 WBLS, 1190 WLIB, Broadway Stages, Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, Christian Cultural Center, Con Edison, Forest City, HelloBeautiful, HOT 97, Investors Bank, LIVE FREE, MadameNoire, National Grid, New York Daily News, North Star Charities, NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, One Brooklyn Fund Inc., Pepsi, Property Markets Group (PMG), Pure Leaf Tea House Collection, Two Trees Management, Vio/K Marketing and WE TV.

Additional details regarding dates and performers for the Coney Island Concert Series are forthcoming. Councilmember Mark Treyger, who is also serving as a host for this series, highlighted the efforts to keep this popular attraction going after the series’ previous organizers announced they would be unable to present any shows this year; following the funding commitment from City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, he worked swiftly with Adams and Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration to dedicate additional funding.
