NEPAL — Festival Celebrates Fathers: A Nepalese devotee offers prayer while lighting an oil lamp during Kuse Aunsi festival at the Gokarneshwar Hindu temple in Kathmandu on Monday. Kuse Aunsi is a festival of Nepal where fathers, living or dead, are honored. Children with living fathers show their appreciation by giving presents and sweets and those whose fathers are deceased pay tributes at the Gokarneshwar temple.

INDIA — Vendors Sell Statues: A train and motorists pass by a row of idols of elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesha displayed for sale ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Bangalore on Monday. After worshipping the idols in their homes or at specially set-up worship venues, devotees immerse them in bodies of water at the end of the festival.

ZIMBABWE — Residents Support President: Supporters of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe carry his portrait at a state funeral for a senior ruling party official in Harare on Sunday. Mugabe and his wife Grace did not attend the funeral following their return from Johannesburg, where the first lady faced calls for prosecution for allegedly assaulting a woman. The Mugabe couple returned early Sunday from South Africa, where the president was attending a summit for Southern African countries.

INDIA – Train Crash: Workers repair the track near the upturned coaches of the Kalinga-Utkal Express after an accident near Khatauli, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, India, Sunday. Rescuers using cutting torchers and cranes have worked through the night to pull apart 14 coaches of a crowded train that went off the tracks in northern India. 

TENNESSEE – Sweeping: Kyle Busch sweeps the top of his car after winning the NASCAR Cup Series auto race, Saturday in Bristol, Tenn. Busch won the NASCAR Trucks, Xfinity and Cup races this week at the track. 

RUSSIA – Hot Air Balloon: A couple enjoys a hot-air balloon flight over the Peremilovo village, 65 km (40 miles) north of Moscow, during the sunset Sunday. The temperature jumped to 32 degrees Celsius, 89,6 Fahrenheit today. 

INDIA – Floating Dead: In this Friday photo, the carcass of a tiger lies in floodwaters at the Bagori range inside Kaziranga National Park in the northeastern Indian state of Assam. About 80 per cent of the 480-square-kilometer (185-square-mile) park has been flooded and more than 100 animal carcass recovered, according to news reports. Deadly landslides and flooding are common across South Asia during the summer monsoon season that stretches from June to September.
