CZECH REPUBLIC — Zoo Protests Poaching: Rhino horns are burned at the zoo in Dvur Kralove on Tuesday. The zoo has burned its stockpiles of rhino horn worth more than $2 million on the black market in a protest against a controversial auction of rhino horn in South Africa.

RUSSIA — Burying World War II Soldiers: An Orthodox priest conducts a burial ceremony of Soviet soldiers killed during World War II who were discovered by members of volunteer search teams digging for remains on a former battlefield, in a memorial cemetery at Nevsky Pyatachok on Tuesday. As many as 200,000 Soviet soldiers were killed here between September 1941 and May 1943 in fighting to break the Nazi siege of the city, which was then called Leningrad. The remains of 228 were buried Tuesday.

KENYA — Court Prepares to Release Detailed Election Ruling: Supporters of President Uhuru Kenyatta, angry at the Supreme Court’s nullification earlier this month of the August presidential election, protest outside the court in downtown Nairobi on Tuesday. The court invalidated the election in a summary judgement on Sept. 1 and ordered a new election, but announced Tuesday that it will deliver its detailed ruling on Wednesday.

BANGLADESH – Arms Open Wide: Rohingya Muslims, who crossed over from Myanmar into Bangladesh, stretch their arms out to collect food items distributed by aid agencies near Balukhali refugee camp, Bangladesh, Monday. Bangladesh has been overwhelmed with more than 400,000 Rohingya who fled their homes in the last three weeks amid a crisis the U.N. describes as ethnic cleansing. Refugee camps were already beyond capacity and new arrivals were staying in schools or huddling in makeshift settlements with no toilets along roadsides and in open fields.

RUSSIA – Military Exercise: Russian missile systems fire during a military exercise at a training ground at the Luzhsky Range, near St. Petersburg, Russia, Monday. The Zapad (West) 2017 military manoeuvres have caused concern among some NATO members neighboring Russia, who have criticised a lack of transparency about the exercises and questioned Moscow’s intentions.
