SOUTH KOREA — Downplaying Trump’s U.N. Speech: TV screens show a news program with an image of U.S. President Donald Trump in his address at the U.N. General Assembly, at the Yongsan Electronic Market in Seoul on Wednesday. South Korea seemed to downplay the latest hot rhetoric aimed at North Korea by Trump, calling his words a signal of Washington’s strong resolve to deal with the North’s march to nuclear weapons mastery, saying that it was essentially a repetition of U.S. policy.

BANGLADESH — Lining Up for Food: Rohingya Muslims, who crossed over recently from Myanmar into Bangladesh, stand in a queue to receive food being distributed near Balukhali refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday. More than 500,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled to neighboring Bangladesh in the past year, most of them in the last three weeks, after security forces and allied mobs retaliated to a series of attacks by Muslim militants last month by burning down thousands of Rohingya homes in the predominantly Buddhist nation.

MEXICO — Earthquake Claims Hundreds of Lives: Family members attend a wake for toddler Daniel Novoa and his aunt, Marta Cruz, both fatal victims of a magnitude 7.1 earthquake in Jojutla on Wednesday. Police, firefighters and ordinary citizens are digging frantically through the rubble of collapsed schools, homes and apartment buildings, looking for survivors of Mexico’s deadliest earthquake in decades as the number of confirmed fatalities climbed to 248.

A powerful earthquake jolted central Mexico on Tuesday, causing buildings to sway sickeningly in the capital on the anniversary of a 1985 quake that did major damage. 

MISSOURI – Protesters Outside Jail: Protesters stand outside of the St. Louis city jail on Monday. The protesters chanted “free our people” outside the jail on Monday night to show solidarity with those who remain behind bars. Police said that more than 120 people were arrested during Sunday’s protests. Monday was the fourth day of protests over the acquittal of a white former police officer in the killing of a black suspect. 

BANGLADESH – Crossing Flooded Area: Rohingya Muslims, who crossed over recently from Myanmar into Bangladesh, cross a flooded area to find alternate shelter after their camp was inundated with rainwater near Balukhali refugee camp, Bangladesh, Tuesday. With a mass exodus of Rohingya Muslims sparking accusations of ethnic cleansing from the United Nations and others, Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Tuesday said her country does not fear international scrutiny and invited diplomats to see some areas for themselves.
