Ridgewood Savings Bank celebrates grand opening of Clinton Hill branch with ribbon cutting

Ceremony marks the bank’s 35th branch location

A warm but comfortable September morning served as the perfect setting for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the brand new branch of the Ridgewood Savings Bank at 1035 Fulton St. in Clinton Hill.

On Tuesday, Sept. 12, elected officials, community leaders along with Ridgewood managers and executives gathered to celebrate the formal opening of the new neighborhood bank location.

The event was hosted by Ridgewood Savings Bank Chairman and CEO Peter Boger and President and COO Leonard Stekol to commemorate opening of the 35th branch location.

Anthonie Marshall, branch banking officer said that she was proud to be the manager of the new bank. Marshall explained that the neighborhood “was underbanked, and I know we can give them exactly what they need with regards to customer service, banking, loans — we’re here for them.”

Management trainee Denis Myagkov, who has worked for the bank since 2013, was happy to attend his first grand opening and was pleased with the bank’s style, explaining that there is only one other branch that looks like it.

Boerum Hill born Emmanuel Guerrero, the bank’s assistant manager, was also impressed with the style of the new branch and the idea of giving back to the community. The resident of Sunset Park began his career in 2007 in the Bay Ridge branch, where he worked for six years.

LouAnn Mannino, Ridgewood Bank vice-president of branch operations, said that she was thrilled with the opening of the new branch in a neighborhood of Brooklyn she described as growing and improving. She credited Fulton Area Business Alliance (FAB) with partnering with the bank to get the Ridgewood name out there. “As you know, we’ve been in business for over 100 years and our motto is ‘neighborgood,’ and that’s what we’re here for, and it’s our pleasure to be here serving this community,” said Mannino. She added that she is proud to have been affiliated with Ridgewood for over 33 years.

Matthew Schettino, vice president marketing director, echoed Mannino’s words and said that it’s all about giving back to the community.

Fifteen Degrees media group Account Executive Justin Calder explained that their campaign is called “neighborgood” because “we want to become part of the neighborhood. We want to be involved in the neighborhood, and we want to donate to charities in the bank’s name.”

Maria Vullo, superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services, said she was “pleased to join in the celebration of the banking development district for Ridgewood Savings Bank here in Clinton Hill.” The native Brooklynite explained that she was pleased to join with other Brooklynites to celebrate the diversity of Brooklyn and the opening of the new branch that will serve the Clinton Hill community.

“When searching for a location for our newest branch in Clinton Hill,” said Stekol, “We were impressed with the neighborhood’s great history, hard-working population and thriving business community. It just seemed like the perfect location.”

Chairman and CEO Peter Boger called Clinton Hill the perfect fit for the new branch location. He praised his staff for their time and dedication and thanked Borough President Eric Adams and his Executive Director Lori Lewis, who was also at the ceremony.
