Police rescue would-be jumper from Williamsburg Bridge

NYPD officers on Sunday morning rescued a man who climbed the Williamsburg Bridge and threatened to jump off the span. The shirtless man climbed atop a beam around 9:30 a.m. and held on to the bridge’s cables until police officers took him into custody around 10:45 a.m., according to the New York Post.
Auto and subway service across the bridge were stopped during the rescue. “Every day, #NYPD cops perform amazing acts of bravery and heroism, all in the name of keeping NYers safe,” Police Commissioner James O’Neill later wrote on Twitter.
