New Manhattan towers could destroy DUMBO’s perfect view

Newlyweds and tourists from around the world often travel to the corner of Washington and Water streets in DUMBO to take photos of the intersection’s iconic view of the Empire State Building in between the Manhattan Bridge.
But that scene could be jeopardized by developer’s plans to build four high-rises, ranging from 62 to 80 stories each, on the bank of the East River in Manhattan, according to the Brooklyn Paper.
“The sort of U-shaped development [that two of the towers would present] would be seen from the spot squarely behind the bridge,” Tara Kelly of the Municipal Art Society told the Brooklyn Paper. “Based on that model, it would be pretty much in that line with the Empire State Building.”
