Police release the son of Gravesend woman, 91, who was found dead In their home

A 55-year-old man was released from police custody on Thursday evening after authorities concluded that his 91-year-old mother died of natural causes, police said.

Petrina Masotto was found unconscious and unresponsive by police on Wednesday afternoon after a relative called 911 to report an assault inside the 26th Avenue home.

Masotto’s son, who lived in a separate apartment in the two-family home, was taken into custody and admitted to Coney Island Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, police said.

The nonagenarian died of natural causes, police told the Eagle on Friday.

The son was released and not charged, police said.
