Kirsten Gillibrand addressed Brooklyn constituents at the Pratt Institute on Thursday as part of a series of town hall meetings throughout New York City.

Gillibrand answered questions from the audience about immigration reform, jobs, health care, and more. Some of those in the audience were Pratt students, according to Gothamist. One student asked the senator about the student debt crisis, and Gillibrand laid out a plan which included lowering the interest rates on student loans from 7-8 percent to 4 percent, which would put $12 billion back into the economy, she said.

The topic most asked about was immigration, reported Kings County Politics. The senator criticized the Trump administration’s handling of the children being detained at the border, calling it one of the administration’s “biggest failures,” and saying that “we should do everything we can” to reunite migrant families. She called for a reimagining of ICE, better access to legal council for detainees, and a facilitated path towards asylum.

The senator has been vocal about her goal to hear from as many New Yorkers as possible. The town hall at Pratt was the fourth in a series of talks between Gillibrand and her constituents, held across Manhattan, the Bronx, and Brooklyn over the course of last week.
