Bossert replaces tattered awning, owner denies rumors of infighting
As part of the restoration of the once-elegant Bossert Hotel on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, workers on Sunday tore down the hotel’s ripped awning after locals complained.
“We’re restoring the frame and putting it right back,” hotel property manager Stephen Allen told the Brooklyn Paper.
The hotel is scheduled to open and welcome new guests this month, but the opening has been delayed several times. David Bistricer of Clipper Equity, one of the hotel’s new owners, stressed in an email to the Brooklyn Paper that disputes between himself and his partner Joseph Chetrit of the Chetrit Group haven’t delayed the project, despite rumors. However, Bistricer still refused to comment on whether he and Chetrit have hired a new operator to run the hotel.
