The long-vacant St. Elias Church building at 145 Kent St. in Greenpoint will soon be converted into a single-family home, Department of Building filings reveal. The new three-story residence, which will include more than 13,800 square feet, will be outfitted with new stairs, a renovated kitchen, new interior partition and new equipment, the Greenpoint Post reported.

The project will also reportedly include a former Sunday school building at 149 Kent St.  Since the building is landmarked, the developer must also receive approval from the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission, the Post said. The project is being managed by Hirsch Enterprises, a real estate firm with experience in converting houses of worship and landmarked non-residential buildings to homes.
