The bad news: Hot Bird, the popular bar on the border of Clinton Hill, Fort Greene and Prospect Heights will be closing this December, displaced by a forthcoming 29-story skyscraper from developer Hope Street Capital. The good news: They are going out with a bang.

On Dec. 8, which is slated to be the bar’s last day of operation, Hot Bird will host one big final party, reports Eater. They also say they are bringing back their fire pit this fall and will host a Halloween party.

The eatery opened in 2010 under the ownership of Frank Moe. The bar’s main attraction, according to Eater, is its spacious outdoor space, surrounded by high walls that block out the nighttime noise from Atlantic Avenue.

In an advance eulogy to the bar, which by reputation has hosted many a first date and party night, Elizabeth Barber wrote in the New Yorker that it was a “a fine venue for modern mating.”
