A Bushwick-based gang might be tied to drug lord El Chapo’s Brooklyn operations. Bushwick Crew, a group the feds describe as a “violent street gang,” are accused of aiding the spread of heroin and fentanyl across the city, executing rival drug dealers along the way, in the years between 2010 and 2017, according to Vice.

Unspecified organized crime experts told Vice that the Bushwick Crew’s drug source, which has until now been either unknown or kept under wraps by prosecutors and law enforcement, could likely be El Chapo’s Sinaloa Cartel, which has appeared to continue activity despite its leader’s incarceration.

In a federal case against five alleged members of the Bushwick Crew, prosecutors took into evidence an Instagram post by alleged member Maurice Brown, where he holds stacks of cash inside of a strip club, captioned by the hashtag “#CHAPODABOSS.”
