Community Board 10 member George Fontas receives a certificate of appreciation from Chairman Joanne Seminara at the board’s Sept. 24 meeting in Bay Ridge after announcing his resignation. Fontas, who had been eyed by many of his board colleagues as a possible future chairman, is no longer eligible to serve due to a recent move out of the neighborhood. Fontas, senior vice president of Capalino and Company, a firm specializing in governmental relations, has moved to Carroll Gardens. During his five years on the community board, he served as chairman of Police and Public Safety Committee and headed a select committee on pedestrian safety. “You will be missed,” Seminara told him. Fontas expressed his gratitude to the board and wished his colleagues luck.
