If the members of Narrows Community Theater could talk to Hurricane Sandy, they would tell the horrible hurricane that they’re not, “Crazy for You.”

The massive storm forced the performing troupe to move out of the theater where it had planned to present “Crazy for You,” a musical comedy featuring songs by George and Ira Gerswin.

Narrows Community Theater had planned to perform their shows at the theater at the Fort Hamilton Army Base, but when the fort needed the theater as a staging area for emergency supplies for hurricane victims, the intrepid performers agreed to move out on Nov. 5.

“Crazy for You” will instead be presented at the Saint Patrick Catholic Church Hall on Fourth Avenue and 97th Street in Bay Ridge. Opening night is Nov. 9.

“Today the cast of ‘Crazy for You’ gave up their theatre for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in Brooklyn in order to help restore our beautiful borough and city,” said cast member Hilary Goldman.

Being displaced is not new for Narrows Community Theater, which has been performing shows in Bay Ridge for over 40 years.

Even though the show has been forced to move due to Hurricane Sandy, Narrows Community Theater members said they are grateful for the gracious generosity of St. Patrick’s Church.

“After a tough day of re-fitting, re-staging, and restoring each other’s spirits, I am even more amazed at how incredible and hard working this cast is, and I couldn’t be any prouder or grateful to be a part of this show,” Goldman said. “This is a tribute to the dedication and tireless effort of everyone involved in getting this show up and running,” she added.

“Crazy for You” is St. will be presented on Nov. 9, 10, 16, 17, at 8 p.m. and on Nov. 11 and 18, at 2 p.m. To purchase tickets or more information contact Narrows Community Theater at (718) 482-3173, email [email protected], or visit their website at www.NarrowsCommunityTheater.com.
