Summer Space a hit on Montague Street
More next week, with performances and dog show
“We call this the ‘Big Mama,’ said chess instructor Asando Jones, holding a giant chess queen up over the heads of chess players hardly bigger than the queen.
“But we don’t call the king the ‘Big Daddy,’ he continued. “We call him the ‘Big Lazy’ because the queen does all the work. Can somebody find the bishop? He’s sometimes known as ‘Sneaky Pete’ because he runs diagonally.”
Kids ran to find the chess pieces on the giant board set up on Montague Street on Sunday during the first of two “Summer Space” events sponsored by the Montague Street Business Improvement District in Brooklyn Heights.
