There’s mucho mockery of Williamsburg and Greenpoint residential projects.

With so much money pouring into these waterfront neighborhoods’ condo and rental developments, real estate watchers expect decent-looking designs, at least – and often declare their disappointment.

Take 20 Bayard St., on the edge of Williamsburg’s McCarren Park. The writer of blog Brooklyn 11211 called the base of the Karl Fischer-designed condo building “one of the ugliest things I have seen in ages – a senseless mashup of bad corporate park architecture and bad junior high school architecture.”

Unsold units in the building were being rented out when Isaac Hager’s North Development Group put the project into Chapter 11 in 2009, The Real Deal reported. In 2011 Fortis Property Group bought the 37 unsold condos for $25 million, the publication said.
