Willowtown’s Spring Fair to feature pet parade and karaoke
A pet parade and more than two hours of karaoke are new features of this year’s Willowtown Spring Fair, sponsored by the Willowtown Association. The fair will take place Saturday, May 17, from 12-5 p.m. the full length of Willow Place in Brooklyn Heights.
Overseen by professional dog walker Nadine Bilgore, participants in the parade are to gather in Adam Yauck Park in Willowtown at 3:15. They will then process on Columbia Place and around the corner on Joralemon Street to Willow Place, pausing mid-block for some singing led by the karaoke DJ, Domingo Ampil. When the parade continues to the end of the block, the Heights pet store Rocco and Jezebel will hand out bags of treats. The DJ’s karaoke session will go to the close of the fair.
The latest title of Willowtown’s own author of bestsellers, Amity Shlaes, will be available at the fair’s book table. It is a 300-page graphic treatment of her 2007 book, “The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression,” being released later this month. The graphics are by the comic book artist Paul Rivoche.
