Bay Ridge triathlete tests his endurance to raise money for cancer research
Shelton Hollers of Bay Ridge is one of thousands of people who will take part in the NYC Triathlon on Aug. 3, testing his ability to swim, bike and run for long distances.
But he’s after more than just a medal.
Hollers is part of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Power Team and is participating to raise funds for cancer research. The MMRF is seeking to recruit more than 700 Power Team members and has set a goal of raising $2 million through its Endurance Events Program, which supports research efforts aimed at accelerating the development of new treatments for patients with multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer.
