The Connecticut woman who was shot in Washington D.C. on Thursday after ramming a White House gate has been identified by the New Haven Register as Miriam Carey.

The 34-year-old dental hygienist from Stamford, whose erratic actions briefly shut down the Capitol, once lived in Brooklyn. According to her online resume, Carey, who attended Clara Barton Professional Health High School in Brooklyn, interned as a dental assistant at Long Island College Hospital (LICH) in Cobble Hill in from January to June of 1997.

Carey earned her associates degree in dental hygiene in 2002 at Hostos Community College, then earned bachelors degree in health and nutrition science at Brooklyn College in 2007.

Carey worked at various dental offices in New Jersey, Rockville Center and the Bronx. She earned another degree in medical sonography from 2009 to 2012 at Pitt Community College.

It is unknown what prompted Carey to careen her black Infiniti wildly away from the White House, hitting an officer. She had a one-year-old child in the car with her who was not hurt, officials said. (See update here.)

Carey's former boss, Dr. Brian Evans, told the Daily News however, that she “fell down some stairs and she had a pretty significant head injury” during the nearly two years she worked for him.

Coincidentally, Aaron Alexis, last month's Washington Navy Yard shooter, also had a Brooklyn connection.

This story will be updated as it develops.
